The gap between live classes and deep study
Live classes happen twice a week. Deep study questions arise at 11pm, the morning before a ceremony, or in the middle of reviewing a verse you half-understand. A serious student needs a resource that is always there — and that actually knows the curriculum.
E-Companion is not a generic AI chatbot. It is trained on the Yorùbá Language Program's curriculum, the Ifá literary corpus, and the 256 Odù — giving it the domain depth that general AI tools lack for sacred knowledge.
What you can ask E-Companion
Odù Ifá exploration
Ask about the themes, stories, prescriptions, and proverbs of any Odù. Ask which Odu governs a particular life situation, or how two Odu relate. E-Companion engages at the level of a knowledgeable study partner — not a generic encyclopedia.
Yorùbá vocabulary & grammar
Check conjugations, clarify tonal distinctions between minimal pairs, explore compound nouns or verb forms. E-Companion corrects mistakes with explanation — not just a yes/no answer.
Ceremony & ritual language
Look up the correct form of a prayer, greeting, or invocatory phrase. Verify whether the text you are about to use is liturgically appropriate for the context. Ask about protocol before you need it in practice.
Curriculum-aware Q&A
E-Companion knows what is covered in each unit of the Yorùbá Language Program. Ask it to review concepts from Units 1–4, quiz you on vocabulary from a recent class, or explain an idea in the study materials you found unclear.
What E-Companion is and is not
- Is: A Gemini-powered AI trained on Ifá curriculum, Odù corpus, and Yorùbá program materials. Excellent for exploration, review, clarification, and guided practice.
- Is not: A replacement for your instructor or a lineage holder. For ceremonial decisions and initiation-level guidance, always consult a traditional authority. E-Companion supports study — it does not replace transmission.
- Is: Available 24/7, at your own pace, on any device. No scheduling required.
- Is not: A general-purpose chatbot. It declines questions outside the scope of Yorùbá, Ifá, and related cultural knowledge, maintaining the integrity of the knowledge it holds.
Sample study session
Student asks:
“What are the core themes of Ogbe Meji and how does it relate to new beginnings?”
E-Companion responds:
A structured answer covering the primary archetype (the first Odu, primordial creation), key proverbs from the Ogbe corpus, traditional prescriptions that recur in this Odu, and suggested follow-up exploration — all in under 30 seconds.
Follow-up questions deepen the conversation: ask for a specific verse, the Yorùbá of a proverb you heard, or how Ogbe Meji relates to the Odu you just studied in class. The session unfolds like a discussion with a knowledgeable study partner.
Who benefits most from E-Companion
- New students (Track A & Track B): Too many questions between classes. E-Companion answers the basics immediately so class time goes deeper.
- Practitioners preparing for ceremonies: Verify ritual language, check Odu connections, and rehearse invocatory Yorùbá — the night before, not just during class.
- Advanced students in Odù Ifá studies: Go deeper on specific Odu, compare themes across the corpus, and explore scholarly or traditional perspectives on contested interpretation.
- Diaspora learners without local community access: No temple nearby, no practitioner in your city. E-Companion is not a community — but it keeps serious study alive between live sessions.
E-Companion within the Trinity Suite
E-Companion is Pillar III of the Ifa Scribe Trinity. It closes the study loop: E-Scribe captures and transcribes oral knowledge, E-Orator lets you hear it correctly, and E-Companion helps you understand and retain it. Together, the three pillars provide a complete learning infrastructure for serious students.
